Yesterday afternoon I watched the West Barnstable firefighters as they practiced their fire skills and burned down the Sandy Neck Beach bath house.  Pretty awe inspiring.

This is a view of the far eastern tip of Sandy Neck barrier beach and lighthouse, from afar and a little closer up -- click on the photos for the larger view. They recently put the top back on the lighthouse, which had been decommissioned since the mid-20th century, when shifting sands changed the landscape, and the lighthouse was no longer at the tip of the beach. There's a summer community out there, and there's great walking along the marshes, beach, and dunes. You can see a few more Sandy Neck photos here.
